The DH-106 comet 3 was a comet 2 witch was lenghtend by 4.70m (15ft 5in) and had 4 rolls royce Avon M502 engines built in to
the wing Root. The comet 3 had wing pinion tanks and had greater range and capacity over the comet 1 & 2.
Only 1 comet 3 (G-ANLO) was built to an air-worthy condition but another was built as a structural tesbed.
G-ANLO apered at the 1954 Farnborough airshow in B.O.A.C livery. It also apered at the airshow in 1958 as a comet 3B (Shorter wingspan and different engines) in BEA livery.
The comet 3 was used as a testbed for the blind landing system which was later fitted to the Hawker Trident.
Thanks to AirbusA330 and sketchycat2 :)
