Frankfurter Küche / Frankfurt Kitchen (1926)

Created by architect Margarethe Schütte-Lihotzky, this is the mother of all fitted kitchens. And it's from 1926! The kitchen was built in 3 Types for small and larger kitchens, in various color designs, some 10.000 were installed in and around Frankfurt/Main (Germany). It is the result of efficiency studies, following Taylorism ideals. My model shows the first design with blue surfaces (because flies avoid blue) and linoleum countertops. It has many fascinating features: A cooking box, an electric stove, wall-mounted ironing board, aluminium drawers for flour, sugar, coffee beans etc., pull-out chopping boards, a low working board under the window that you could sit at while working and discard waste directly into a large drawer installed under a hole in the surface. The ceiling lamp is awesome, too: it is installed under a railing so you can "take it with you" wherever you currently work. You'll find a great article and images on Wikipedia and a large image in the URL provided.
