Developed by CEC as a throwback to its Jedi Civil War-era S-250 Chela-class starfighter, the Gronda competed alongside FT-6 Pike for a role as the Republic's primary heavy fighter. Ultimately the Gronda never was chosen for the contract- its much larger size made it comically difficult to store in any of the Republic's starship hangers- but it found a niche among customers who needed an extreme amount of firepower, great viewing angles, but weren't concerned with maneuverability. Corporations like Czerka, Blastech, and the Mining Guild used the vehicle as a gunship using external hardpoints on the winglets to attach bombs, missiles, and probes in order to suppress local resistance from the air. Bounty Hunters used the vehicle to obliterate dangerous targets who they'd rather collect dead instead of alive. And in some rare instances the vehicle was used by private security forces like the InterStellar Regulators as escort vessels.
