Steinete Bukt Island Airport was founded in 1976 after the area’s fishing industry began to expand. Charter flights from the Mainland US and Canada were launched to transport Fishmen willing to make a buck or two in the harsh conditions. The runway surface is made up of hard compacted gravel. Runway length is 4,689 feet long. In 1997 the airports seawall began to crack and crumble into the rough bay. The wall was constructed of stone and was thought to be stable. But constant pounding from the waves and the weight of landing and taking off aircraft was causing it’s failure. The wall was refinished in early 1999. The new wall is made up of concrete sections. There is a small terminal at the airport. The airport first started out as a basic wooden nordic structure. The terminal was redone in 2008. Design was done by Max Kraft, and it is a beautiful structure. Today three airlines service the airport. Endeavour Airlines, Air Halifax, and Viking Express. Endeavour provides a unique oportunity to showcase the capibility of the Boeing 737-200, equiped with gravel kit. The aircraft operates in and out with the 737-200 with little to no problems. Anyways I really hope you guys like the model. Massive thanks to 2001Kraft for helping me with the design of the airport. And another big thanks to all of the contributers. Thank you and enjoy! ©2015 Boeingfan727 #Airport #Ficitional #Isen #Isen_Island #Steinete_Bukt #Steinete_Bukt_Island #Steinete_Bukt_Island_Airport
