Simple, basic chicken house. Medium sized (about 1.8 x 1.8m 6' x 6') big enough for about 6 -10 birds depending on size. Strong, sturdy practical construction made from common-sized rough/sawn timber bought locally. Roof made from Onduline corrugated sheets.
Metric dimensions. SU 2014. Incorporates drop-down door and main-door access front and rear. Scope for the handyman to install automatic door opener easily.
Internal wood (floor, sidings, nestboxes, perches etc) should be liberally treated with creosote-type product before construction for weather-proofing and to deter mites and other nasties. Allow at least 1 week to 10 days for such treatment to cure before installing your flock.
This model has served my little flock really well the past winter. It's been very wet here (Wales, UK) recently and the coop remains dry and comfy and bug-free for our birds.
See my blog below for pix story etc on construction of this little project.
