A Steampunk-type Spelljammer Klingon Bird of Prey I made a day ago. No "warp" speed but can travel through Spelljammer space. From Earth to Qo'noS is a 3/4-month journey, unless a `wormhole' is discovered and can cut the voyage.
Most heroic, honorable D&D Klingons would be classed as Lawful Neutral to Chaotic good. Rarely is a Klingon Chaotic Evil. Rarely would these ships be used to prey on innocents - unless crewed by members of the Duras clan.
Klingon Birds of Prey of the spelljammer age are made from metal-reinforced wood. A hover-spell is used to lift the ship from the water, and to help maintain flight.
Crew: 20 - passengers 14. Food/supplies. 5.5 months
Bird of Prey 1 - Water-travel, can submerge 100 feet. Wings can be used as docking platforms for smaller water-craft when the ship is stable in the water. Railing along the sides of the main hull, the neck, and rear section are observations areas. railing areas are usually not used when the ship is in flight, unless in emergencies.
Bird of Prey 2 - `Cloaked' water travel. A cloaking spell creates an image over the hull that matches the water or land around the ship. Not as efficient as a Star Trek cloak, but weapons can be fired.
Bird of Prey 3: Landed.
Bird of Prey 4: Attack mode. Forward torpedo tube fires cannon balls, or a fire-mage can be positioned in a support harness at the aperture of thre launch tube and cast fireball if necressary. Most Klingons, however, abstain from magic as they view it as a dishonorable tactic, but there are exceptions. The wing-guns pivot down for better aim in air, pneumatic cannons that fire various explosives or standard rounds.
K'Raal, Son of Cho'Qor, traveled from Qo'noS to Abeir-Toril, but the spelljammer Bird of Prey was made by Haji, the rival of Abdul (the father of Arabia... literally). Haji skimped on materiel, and the Spejammer crashed in Faerun. Haji soes NOT offer refunds.
