This folly plays host to the monthly Dean’s lunch for the School of Engineering I have designed. It, just like the remainder of the design, emulates the theory ‘Cosistency vs Creativity.’ It consists of a simple L-shaped frame repeated hundreds of times and rotated at a 5 degree angle with each iteration. These frames are set onto a spiraling frame to meet in the centre. The frames have no structural purpose. It’s purpose, rather, is to remind students to stay grounded in their approach to design in Engineering. ‘Grounding’ is displayed through the anchoring down of the 6 spiral frames around the base, preventing the twisted members from 'lifting off’.
