HUB International (Housing Union Building) was built in 1972 by the Students' Union to offset campus housing problems. The building straddles 112th Street for four city blocks and houses approximately 50 commercial tenants (see HUB Mall Directory) and 850 student residents in apartments lining the mall on its upper level. More information about living in HUB is available from the Residence Services website.
HUB has received a number of architectural awards for its unique structure. HUB was purchased by the University for $1 from the Students' Union in 1976 and since that time has undergone many renovations.
At ground level, you can find the International Centre, a resource centre for international students located on HUB's north end opposite the entrance of the Old Arts Building. Art workshops/studios and the HUB Community Centre (a social centre for HUB residents) are also accessed at ground level. #Alberta #Arts #Canada #Edmonton #Food #Housing_Union_Building #HUB #Main_Campus #North_Campus #U_of_A #University_of_Alberta
