I know I already did a Canadian Pacific DC-8, but I really wanted to do this one, because it broke the sound barrier! It was the first commercial aircraft to go supersonic. It's top speed was Mach 1.012 or 772.6 mph! Not bad for a DC-8 eh? alphaMedia was wondering how this broke Mach 1. Its simple. The plane had a strong enough structure, it was put into a a controlled dive from 52,000 feet, and the engines were at full power (and maybye some of this has to do with the fact it was powered by Rolls Royce Conways). #40 #Air #Aires #Airlines #Buenos #Canadian #Conway #CP #DC8 #Douglas #Empress #Engine #Engines #Mach #Montreal #Of #Pacific #Rolls #Royce #Sound_Barrier #Speed #Supersonic #Turbofan
