Fisher Building and Block

Built by paper industry leader Lucius Fisher in 1906, the Fisher Building is an important Chicago landmark. The original building was designed by Charles Atwood, and the addition by Peter J. Weber, both who were part of Daniel Burnham's firm D.H. Burnham. To increase the vertical emphasis of the building, all of the ornament was placed on the horizontal banding of the building, thus breaking it up and making the strong vertical lines achieve a higher level of hierarchy. The building is 325 feet (84 meters) and is the tallest building of its age still standing in Chicago. Modeled by Mason Thrall. #building #Chicago #high_rise #highrise #IL #Illinois #skyscraper #tower
