Precious Plastic Open Source Flake Extruding 3D Print Head (Version 2)

Precious Plastic Open Source Flake Extruding 3D Print Head (Version 2)

Sam S.
This is an open-source large format 3D print head, designed to enable 3D printing directly from recycled plastic flakes, as produced by the Precious Plastic Shredder. It's is similar to pellet-extruding heads used for large-scale manufacturing. I've got mine mounted to the open-source "MPCNC" (Mostly Printable CNC) gantry, and you can find the documentation for that at V1engineering.com. You should be able to mount it onto any CNC gantry that can carry a router. It's designed to deliver the flakes via a hose connected to a vacuum and cyclone filter, but for now I've just been feeding it flakes periodically. A full hopper will print for 20-30 minutes without problems. This design is intended to make large format printing directly from recycled plastic affordable and feasible. Please feel free to build your own without asking for permission, but please do give credit, and please share what you learn. More info @ SamSmith.work
