JAW Functional Sculptures
THE ORIGAMI COFFEE TABLE IS DESIGNED BY JOHN A WEICK RA & AP LEED AND IS PART OF THE JOHN WEICK FUNCTIONAL SCULPTURES. THE ORIGAMI COFFEE TABLE SHOWN HERE IS IN PLYWOOD WITH INSERT WINDOW AND BRASS ANGLE TRIM EDGE TO HOLD GLAZING AND DESIGNED BY JOHN WEICK ON MARCH 26, 2011. THIS DESIGN WAS DONE IN 1974 AND WAS CONSIDERED BY FOR MANUFACTURE BY TWO MAJOR FURNITURE DESIGN COMPANIES - ATELIER INTERNATIONAL IN 1974 AND STOW DAVIS IN 1977. THIS TABLE IS CALLED ORIGAMI FOR THE REASON THAT THIS TABLE IS BENT INTO TWO SURFACES WITH ONE PIECE OF MATERIAL AND WITH NO FASTENERS. THE ADDITION OF THE GLASS WINDOW WITH TRIM EDGE IS TO ALLOW VIEWING HOW THE TABLE WAS MADE BELOW, IS TO VIEW OBJECTS ON THE LOWER SHELF AND IS TO HAVE A SCRATCH CLEANABLE TOP SURFACE. A HALF AND QUARTER INCH ALUMINUM MODELS WERE MADE ALONG WITH PHOTOGRAPHS, DRAWINGS AND A PATENT THAT WAS NOT FILED DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS. THIS ORIGAMI TABLE WAS ALSO SHOWN IN CLEAR PLASTIC ON THE PREPARED PATENT DRAWINGS. THE ORIGAMI TABLE CAN COME IN VARIOUS SIZES, FINISHES, MATERIALS AND COLORS.
