SS SantaCruzCement

SS SantaCruzCement

Turd F.
This is my rendition of a ship similar to the SS SantaCruzCement. A very unknown vessel at the time, the "Eastern Victor" was built by the Mitsubishi Ship Building Co. in 1922. In 1927, E.V was renamed the "Pacific Cedar" and operated a short period as a freighter. In 1934, the Portland Cement Co bought the ship and was renamed, yet again, to the "SantaCruzCement." Under this tenure, the SS SantaCruzCement became the first Self-Unloading Bulk Carrier on the Pacific Coast and could be seen regularly shuttling cement to the Davenport Cement plant via a custom-built pier. In 1956, the ship was bought for a final time by the Permanente Cement Co. and amptly renamed the "Permanente Cement." #1922 #1934 #bulk_carrier #Cement #Davenport #freighter #Permanente_Cement #Portland_Cement_Company #Santa_Cruz #SantaCruzCement
