This building was built starting in 1937. It would have served the exceedingly grim task of containing the NSDAP congress, but as World War Two prevented it, the building became useless. It now serves the much nicer task of a public ground, which is probably just as well. While majestic in planning, the building would probably have been a disaster. Due to the immense size of the central space (which would have contained 50,000 seats under a self-supporting roof) and a lack of soft spaces would have created echoes which would probably have deafened people or even caused them to go into shock-an unmitigatable mess. While some may criticize for the tact issues behind posting a building related to such a dark sector in history, I do it simply because it was an impressive feat of engineering. Indeed, it could be the base of any other large building, as it almost became a fussball (soccer/football) stadium and a shopping mall
The building is now used by the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.
Yeah... I know it sucks. It's supposed to. These are Nazis, remember? #Bavaria #Bayern #Deutschland #Germany #Nuremberg #Nürnberg #Weltkrieg #World_War_2
