Ffestiniog Power Station is a Pumped Storage Hydroelectric power station in Gwynedd, Wales. It was the first major pumped storage hydroelectric power station in the UK and it can be seen from the Ffestiniog Railway which passes the power station. Water is supplied from the Stwlan Reservoir 200m above the power station. It travels through underground pipes to the power station. When the water leaves the power station it enters Tanygrisiau Reservoir. The water is then pumped back up to Stelan Reservoir at a time when a low amount of power is being used, so than it can be used again at time when there is high power useage. Ffestiniog's four generating units capable of achieving a combined output of 360MW of electricity, which is enough to supply the entire power needs of North Wales for several hours. #Ffestiniog #Gwynedd #Hydroelectric #North #Power #Pumped #Reservoir #Station #Storage #Stwlan #TRM_DA #Wales
