MARY LOUISE REED - PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- Mary Louise Reed passed away peacefully on May 2, 2011, in the Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Fla. at the age or 87. Mary was the devoted wife of her predeceased husband, Vern Reed; the loving mother of her four children, Bill, Gary, Nancy and Karen; the doting grandmother of Katie, Liza, Kyle, Chuck, Alex, Christopher, Sarah, Meigan, Lana and Xiaocai; supportive mother-in-law of Susan, Deborah, Andy and Kim; and big sister to her surviving siblings, Carol and Georgiana. She was also a good friend to many, and an inspiration to all who were a part of her life. Mary was born at home in Springville, N.Y. on June 17, 1923, the daughter of Thomas and Louise Prior, and the first of seven children. She was graduated from Amherst High School in Amherst, N.Y., and soon after married Vernon Reed, a young tenor who had a local reputation for his fine singing voice. In 1947 Vern joined a new barbershop quartet, the Buffalo Bills, and in 1950 they won the Barbershop Society international competition, launching them on a long performing career, which included #MARY_LOUISE_REED
