They finally began to build the complex in 1998. The museum was completet in 2001 and comprehended the art collection from Elisabeth und Rudolf Leopold. This collection contained creations from Gustav Klimt, Richard Gerstl, Koloman Moser, Oskar Kokoschka as well as the famous collection of Egon Schiele. The cuboid's size is about 40x26x26 meters and is covered with a white shell limestone. The entrance area can be achieved by using an outside staircase, which is 10 meters wide. The niveau of the entrance area is located at a high of 3,40 meters. Subsequently you reach the first and the second floor as soon as the basement, through a mezzanine floor, where a café and a shop are situated. An additional basement is used for the placement of the building services and depots. The architects also built premises for childcare and offices. Concering the delivery and workshops it can be remarked, that they are located within the oval wing underneath the new building. The external facade does not let many light come in, but all the more it comes through the glazed atrium.
