The Nassau Hotel

The Nassau Hotel

MILO M.
The Nassau, designed by Albert Anis in 1936, is a relatively unadorned building with a classic Art Deco façade. The central section is flanked by two fluted pilasters rising to a stepped parapet. The interplay of geometruc forms is seen in most of Anis' designs. On this façade, porthole windows and a raised bulls-eye make a circular them. The sign obscuring the view of the bulls-eye is a later addition, as is the awning over the porch. If you look very closely, you can see the side portholes are connected to the pilasters and windows by vertically fluted ribbons. The current paintjob doesn't accentuate this. #1980s #activists #added #Alto #art #atlantic #ave #avenue #be #beach #clear #clifton #collins #Deco #decorations #description #design #Detailed #downtown #dr #drive #espagnola #espanola #font #hotel #league #lummus #mediterranean #metropole #miami #MiMo #minor #ocean #Original #park #postcards #preservation #red #redo #revival #rounded #similar #simone #some #soon #south #square #st #steve_madden #straps #street #style #terrace #the #The_National_Hotel #walburne #warm #water #way #website #wrapped
