**This is a 3D model of the Gallant-Class Escort from Star Trek Online. It should be roughly to scale. The 'Refit' version was released just after the' Season 8: The Sphere' update of STO. I worked backwards on this ship's description, making the components and 3d models based on screenshots then deciding what each part actually did based on it's appearance. It doesn't really make sense for this thing to have 12 forward-facing torpedo tubes but whatev's. The nose is definitely incorrect- the 'cheeks' are supposed to flare out much more and it's supposed to be a smidge shorter but i was having trouble reconciling conflicting screenshots so decided on this size/shape.
Feel free to use this anywhere just credit back here and let me see the cool stuff you're able to make with this :)!
Following the disaster that was the Undine incursion into the Federation and Klingon space the Gallant and Vigilant-classes were both upgraded using technologies developed since the class' inception.
The Gallant Refit was extensive and included the following features
•Bridge Module was moved forward.
•Bussard collectors were redesigned and enlarged.
•Two 'torpedo sheds' were added instead of the nacelle mounted torpedo launchers. These were shielded (layer: Torpedo bay doors) and contained two launchers that directed both fore and aft. These were not rapid-fire launchers like the 'torpedo arms' at the front. The could only be loaded with one torpedo per-tube and had a normal fire rate.
•While the original Gallant only had a single wide-band deflector incapable of doing much other than diverting debris, the refit added several new deflectors.
‣A directional deflector at the front nose of the ship. This was used for particle manipulative weaponry like the 'Heavy Graviton Beam', 'Magnetometric Bursts', or 'Tachyon Beam'. These had become used with much more frequency against adversaries in the Delta Quadrant who were not as vulnerable to conventional Anti-Klingon tactics.
‣A wide-beam deflector that sat above the bridge module. This deflector was also able to manipulate particles that did not require precise dispersal such as emitting a 'Graviton Pulse'.
‣Four miniaturized rear-facing directional deflectors. While these could technically divert particles from hitting the rear of the ship their primary purpose was as a particle manipulator. Graviton Pulses specifically were cited as an excellent use of these 'mini-deflectors'. Pursuing ships could be slowed by depositing graviton particles in their path. This combination of frontal and rear deflectors also allowed for particle 'shells' to wrap around the ship without using the shields. This was useful while cloaked as it was possible to hide the ship inside certain anomalies or nebula by generating the same kinds of particles found in those phenomena.
•Extended main impulse engines with nearly 5x the surface area of the old engines. Two secondary impulse engines were also added above the rear 'mini-deflectors'. rear-facing plasma vents were also added before the impulse engines specifically for tactics like the 'Riker Maneuver'.
•A hefty communications spine was added to the rear of the ship which allowed for an extremely long communications range. This allowed the Gallant to operate on it's own much more safely.
•The ventral shuttle bay door was enlarged and rearmored. Internal shuttle bay was extended.
•Dorsal plasma vents were redesigned and added to the ventral section as well.
•'Torpedo Arms' were redesigned and could now store 10 torpedoes in each. Explosion relief vents were added to the arms to direct blasts away from the ship in the event of failure.
