A Routine Patrol

A Routine Patrol

AirbusA330
1940 - Battle of Britain - Lt. Daniel Tuck and his wingman, Corporal Lance Goodwin are on a routine patrol of the English Channel. Suddenly, they spot a lone He 111 trying to run towards the French border, presumably after the rest of its squad was shot down. Tuck swoops down, firing off a short burst. The bomber's gunners snap to attention and begin firing at the Spitfires, mortally wounding Tuck and hitting his engine. Weaving through deadly tracer fire from the bomber's gunners, Cpl. Goodwin blows up the left-wing engine, and the njured Tuck finishes the job, slicing through the rear fuselage and left wing with his 4 machine guns. As the bomber spirals down and the crew bails out, Lt. Tuck radios his wingman, "See you on the other side, Goody." Goodwin watches in horror as Tuck's Spitfire spirals earthward and explodes as it hits the ground, killing Tuck. Goodwin wipes away a tear and rolls right, looking down at the smoldering wreckage of Tuck's aircraft. He salutes, levels the wings, and dives towards home, knowing he has a long war ahead of him... <><><> UPDATE: Resized Spitfires and parachutes.
