This is a 3d build of the Phobos, (sometimes listed as Phobus), a freighter that appeared in the 1979, Canadian, sci-fi movie "H.G. Wells' The Shape of Things to Come." Except for borrowing the names of characters, the film had nothing to do with the book and was just an attempt by the studio to capitalize on the popularity of Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. The Phobos was a robot-piloted freighter used to transport Raddic-Q2, an anti-radiation drug manufactured on the planet Delta III, and necessary for humanity's survival after a post-apocalyptic robot war. The film's antagonist, the tyrant Omus, (played by Jack Palance), purposely crashes the Phobos into New Washington, a domed city on Earth's moon, causing widespread disaster. After the attack, the film's heros steal the Startreak, an advanced starship, and travel to Delta III to take on Omus and his robot army. Needless to say, the movie was amazingly bad, but it produced two pretty cool-looking ship that I wanted to model. The stern of the Phobos was never clearly shown in the film, so I had to guess on what it may have looked like. The ship's kitbashed appearance and design could easily be imagined as one of the ships travelling among of the refugee fleet of the classic and reimagined Battlestar Galactica. #classic #freighter #HG_Wells #kitbash #movie #outerspace #Phobos #saucer #scifi #spacecraft #spaceship #starship #transport
