"Peashooter" Boeing P-26 (v4 not quite finished yet)

it's me
U.S. Army Air Corps fighter plane, 1933... the first all-metal monoplane fighter, first fighter plane with flaps, armament 2x .30cal Browning MG, top speed 234mph... Squadrons flying the Peashooter were deployed to defend the Panama Canal and Hawaii... ... ... The Peashooter was a key turning point in aviation history. Fighters coming into serice only 2 years later were much faster, more heavily armed, better in almost all respects, but they also used improvements which were developed in the Peashooter and approved by the conservative air services only because of this proven design. The Peashooter was kept in service until 1942... a Phillipine air serviceman flying a P-26 was the first Allied flyer to shoot down a Japanese Zero... ... ... This model includes some structural details but I have a lot to finish up, the oil cooler, empannage bracing wires, and cockpit (for example); I also am adapting an engine from one of 'Tesler's excellent models but it is not yet installed... ... ... ... ... The airfoil sections for the wings and propellor are to plans & accurate... the guns (if you can't find them, they fire thru the engine cowling) are slightly adapted from 'MorBius' excellent version... I am still a beginner with problems, such as some of the complex surfaces keep getting corrupted but this uploaded model should be OK #Army_Air_Corps #fighter_plane #military_aviation #pursuit_plane
