Lockheed PO-1W Constellation

Lockheed PO-1W Constellation

707
This was the only regular Constellation operated by the United States Navy. The Navy ordered two (which became the only two) special L-749As from Lockheed that could carry radar to track another sneak attack like Pearl Harbor. The new planes were known as PO-1Ws. They were not given serial numbers, and could only be told apart by the prop spinners. The first one had white, and the second one had black. In 1952, both planes were redesignated WV-1. One later saw service with the FAA as an L-749A, and is undergoing restoration to fly again! #America #Connie #Constellation #L749 #L749A #Lockheed #Navy #of #PO1W #States #US #United #WV1
