Description
American Airlines was the launch customer of the CV-240. If American had not intervened, the Convairliner family would have not existed and neither would the Martinliner famiily as well. This is due to the fact that both families were designed to American Airlines' requirement for a DC-3 replacement. American liked Convair's CV-110 prototype better than Martin's 2-0-2, and helped Convair develop the CV-110 into the CV-240. The 2-0-2 ended up being plagued with wings coming off in flight, resulting in 2-0-2A modifications and the 4-0-4. The Martinliner would end up being a failiure while Convair would produce 1000 Convairliners (more were built later by Canadair and Kelowna Flightcraft of Canada). #110 #202 #240 #404 #440 #540_CV580 #580 #5800 #600 #AA #Airlines #American #Blue #Convair #Convairliner #CV110 #CV240 #CV340 #CV440 #CV540 #CV5800 #CV600 #CV640 #CV580 #Flagship #Martin #N94212 #Propliner #Ridge
