Flag of Peru

Hermes
The flag of Peru was created by José de San Martín and adopted in 1825. During the war against Spain, seeing a flock of flamingos with white breasts and red wings rising, he would have exclaimed: "Here is the flag of freedom". First appeared in various versions, the Peruvian flag is composed of three vertical bands of equal size; white the middle one and red the two side ones. The version shown here is the civil flag. The state flag has the emblem in the center. June 7th, the anniversary of the Battle of Arica, is the day of the flag. #flag #Peru
