Description
this is the lite version, a more detailled model is available in 3D Warehouse. In the late 80s, two entrepreneurs (Veringa & van der Klip) in Leiden had a vision for the open water area at the Prinsessekade. This central point in the city would be the ideal location for a bar restaurant, being close to the major shopping streets and the Central Station. After receiving planning permission from the local council they fully designed and built this modern bar boat themselves. Originally called “De Waterlijn” opened its doors in 1991 and mainly serves coffee and a fresh made lunch dishes. The boats’ main structure is a concrete boat housing the kitchen, toilets, office and storage space. On the top the bar is fully made of steel and glass with a striking sloping pointed roof. In 1996 the bar was extended with a third terrace on the north side of the main boat. Now called “Petterson” , it’s still a very noticeable part of the centre of Leiden. #architecture #boat #boathouse #coffeehouse #glass_building #grand_cafe #Leiden #lunchroom #Netherlands #Pettersson #Spruyt #Waterlijn
