[1] Names used in ancient times to indicate mercury are quicksilver and hydrargirium, from the Latin hydrargyrum (Hydrargyrum is the name from which the letters Hg derive) which in turn derives from the Greek hydrárgyros, composed of ὕδωρ, "hydor" (water) and ἄργυρος, "árgyros" (silver). It is mainly obtained by reducing the cinnabar. #Hg #Hg80 #Mercury
