Eleanor Cross, Geddington

Eleanor Cross, Geddington

Andrew W.
The Eleanor Cross at Geddington is the best preserved of the three remaining Eleanor Crosses. Originally there were 12 crosses built on the orders of King Edward I in memory of his wife Eleanor of Castile, marking the nightly resting-places along the route taken by her body as it was taken from Lincoln to London. The other two crosses are at Northampton and Waltham Cross. #Edward_I #Eleanor_Cross #English_Heritage #Geddington
