02 No. 1 Court

02 No. 1 Court

Bill
The No. 1 Court is the first secondary court at Stone Mountain and still includes bleacher seating. In a tennis tournament, some of the more important final round matches would be played here while the most important would be played simultaneously in Centre Court. You may notice that it appears the No. 1 Court is built on a "hill". In the real world, the court is actually built into the "ground". The court surface is some 10 feet under the original surface. In fact, even Centre Court is similarly sunken to the top of the lower seating area—the playing surface is some 30 feet below ground. Unfortunately, in Google Earth, it is impossible to "dig a hole" in the surface. Anything modeled below ground level disappears. For the main stadium, I was able to somewhat camouflage that discrepancy. But for the No. 1 Court, it was more difficult to hide. My only option to best recreate the real world including the below ground level bleachers was to leave the playing court at the surface and raise everything around it. Oh well.... Whatever works! :) (See the Collection Description for more details.) #33491525N_84_72361W #Stone_Mountain_Memorial_Park #Stone_Mountain_Tennis_Center
