Constellation Europe Warehouse, Avonmouth, Bristol

TRM DA
Owned by Constellation Europe, the warehouse accounts for 15 per cent of the UK’s total wine and alcohol market and took three years to build. Covering 858,000 sq ft – with a roof big enough to park 4,000 cars – the internal volume of the building is equivalent to 14,000 double decker buses. The complex can hold 57 million bottles of wine. The £100 million project contains nine kilometres of fibre optic cable and uses forklift trucks which are guided by lasers. Branded wine such as Hardys and Banrock Station are bottled on-site after being shipped into the country in huge 25,000-litre vats to save costs. A staggering 800 bottles of wine are bottled each minute – and are even photographed 18 times after bottling to ensure they contain the exact amount required. At peak output, the factory can process 350 lorries every day carrying six million bottles of wine. The warehouse is also served by Bristol Freightliner Terminal near Ashton Gate which can transport 8.96M bottles of wine a year. #Alcohol #Avonmouth #Bottling #Bristol #Constellation_Europe #plant #TRM_DA #Warehouse #Wine
