Tomb The tomb was built in 1421 by Celebi Sultan Mehmed, the son of Sultan Bayezid I. It is an octagonal structure with the narrowest side measuring 8.45 m and the widest 8.87 m. The tomb occupies an area of 328 m2 and extends underground. A secret door on the eastern side gives access to a crypt roofed with a cradle vault. The exterior has a revetment of turquoise tiles between bands of white marble. The blind arches over the windows are adorned with inscriptions of verses from the Koran. The walls in the interior are covered with hexagonal tiles up to a height of 2.94 m with large medallions containing a decoration of plant motifs. The mihrap, which resembles the mihrab in the Green Mosque in its rumi and plant motifs and its embossed lettering, is generally regarded as a masterpiece of Ottoman tile work. The sarcophagus of Celebi Sultan Mehmed rests on a platform in the centre of the tomb. It is covered entirely with tiles and adorned with sulus inscriptions and plant motifs Alıntı : "www.mimarlikmuzesi.org" #yesil_turbe
