In the middle, the Dominican shield, surrounded by branches of laurel. Above the shield, the correspondence with the Dominican motto: "Dios, Patria, Libertad" (God, Fatherland, Freedom). The red of the Dominican flag represents the blood shed by the liberators of the homeland. Blue represents the ideals of progress and freedom. The cross is the symbol of the liberators' struggle to reach the freedom of the homeland. White remembers that peace and unity must prevail among all Dominicans. Plus it's the only flag in the world to have the bible in its shield. According to another interpretation, red and blue are the colors of the mantle of Mary of Nazareth in the religious image of the Madonna, which is considered the protector of the Dominican people. #flag #Dominican #Republic
