Keg Creek Par 4 in Leah, GA

Keg Creek Par 4 in Leah, GA

Description
My dream hole is a 475 yard par 4 located on a peninsula between two branches of Keg Creek on Clarks Hill (J. Strom Thurmond) Lake in Leah, GA. This is behind the house where I grew up about 30 minutes from the Augusta National and I've always seen a golf hole here. My hole employs elements of the strategic school of golf design, as it is heavily defended by water down the entire left side. The ideal drive would be long and down the right side of the right-to-left sloping fairway. Anything too far left could catch a bad bounce and kick toward the water. The long second shot tempts players to go at the pin, but water looms long and left at the end of the peninsula. Small mounding to the right of the green kicks a safer second shot toward the pin. One lone bunker near the left side of the green is the only thing that stands between a wayward shot and the lake. Inspired by the finishing holes at Nicklaus' Great Waters and Rees Jones' Oconee Course in Greensboro, GA. #Golf_Digest_Dream_Hole_2010
