Desmatosuchus haplocerus

Desmatosuchus haplocerus

Birdman
An odd looking archosaur, the 17 foot long Desmatosuchus was well adapted for life in the arid forests of Triassic Arizona. It's low slung build helped keep its vulnerable underparts protected while it's tough armored back presented a formidable challenge to most predators. It's upturned snout was used for digging out roots and tubers from underground, a great lifestyle for such a low-slung creature. #animal #archosaur #arizona #armor #birdman #desmatosuchus #prehistoric #reptile #triassic
