Description
From the book by Cathleen Norman, Golden Old and New - A Walking Tour Guide (Page 15) “Charles Judkins first arrived in Golden by wagon train in 1859 at age 18; he later ran a local saloon. This is the Historic District's oldest house, built of wood before the local clay-mining and brick making industries had begun. The L-shaped floor plan was favored by early builders, as was the clapboard siding and gable shingles. Note the ‘Bargeboard’ along the gable eaves and the decorative woodworking on the window tops. Because the front yard is full of fruit trees, it may be difficult to see the house address.”
