NAB Building 1978, Launceston

Robin V.
The prior to the construction of this unsightly building, the elegant, 3 story, Victorian style "L Fairthorne & Son Chemist" used to occupy this site. Fairthorne's Chemist was one of several buildings along this short portion of St John Street to have been lost to the devastating modernization spree which ruined much of Launceston's CBD between the 1950s to 1980s. This modernist building is currently serves commercial purposes and contains a small selection of shops, most notably NAB. A small portion of the building backs onto Dechaineux Way and serves as a rear entrance for one of the shops within the building. The building has been modeled with the intent of replacing the current 3d model which was made by an inexperienced Uni student and has much inaccuracies. Model updated 11,12,2012 to correct position. Last Model Update: Bitmaps replaced with JPEG textures for faster loading.
