Suburban side-by-side duplex snout house

Suburban side-by-side duplex snout house

Dan T.
Another planner's nightmare -- the cheap side-by-side duplex with a pair of snout house-like garages in the middle. It's a step up from a doublewide. Maybe. I'll copy and paste the description from the last utilitarian duplex, because ... well, just because. You've seen this type of housing before. The basic, no-frills side-by-side duplex (semi-detached house). Contractor grade kitchen cabinets, contractor grade bathroom sink, contractor grade shower, contractor grade vinyl siding, and contractor grade vinyl windows. It's on a street with named after the builder's daughter or son -- something like "Jaiden Lane", "Kaiden Court", or "JR Circle." Duplexes like this are usually grouped together in some small subdivision, more often than not in a working class suburb or exurb. You know, the kind of town filled with auto body shops, powersports and used truck dealers, payday lenders, construction equipment rental places, and vape boutiques, and they're all in metal buildings surrounded by muddy gravel and dirt parking lots. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and the faint, lingering smell of cigarette smoke, knock-off dollar store perfume, and feet, no matter how many times you shampoo the carpets or scrub down the walls. $650 a month, and it's yours for a year. I made this model as a "what not to do" example for form-based zoning code illustration. All elevations are detailed, and there's interior floors, walls, ceilings, stairwells, and stairs. Sorry, but you won't find interior detail work like molding, kitchen cabinets, appliances, or interior doors. Sad, sad duplex.
