Description
The successful German Torpedo G7 was used on shore, surface and below during WW2. Several G7a was used in coastal torpedo batteries along the coast of Norway. Many versions were made, mainly based on G7e which was cheaper to make than the G7a. The versions differ in firing pistol and guidance but the basics were unchanged. After the war the G7a was in use in the Norwegian forces for another 60 years! The T1 Mod 1 Norwegian version with wire-guidance is also included. Contained in the file are several types. G7a complete with the main internal components (simplified but accurate), Pi-1 and Pi-2 firing pistols and different warheads. The G7a is made from accurate original drawings with big help from Natter with his hands on experience. All dimensions and color shall be as accurate as possible. Text explaining all components is included in a layer. On the G7a all controls and gyro was driven by air pressure, no electrics, just mechanics in steel, bronze and brass. Main propulsion was a four cylinder steam engine with up to 350hk. The G7e has an electric motor and did not leave a visible bubble trail but with reduced speed and range as a cost. G7 data: warhead 280-300kg, weight 1.5 tons, length 716cm and diameter 53.4cm (21in). For more information about German WW2 torpedos follow the Wiki link below. © Harpoon.
