Heuerhaus / small farmhouse North Germany

Daniel P.
A mid-18th century farm helper's house from northwestern Germany. The Main farmhouses were inherited by the farmers oldest sons. Younger brothers or farm helpers lived in these small houses. They usually had some lots for animals like goats or sheep, an open fireplace and small sleeping chambers with alcove beds. Air must have been really bad in these houses, due to the thick smoke from turf fire and the fact that it was all in one room... Some of these houses still exist in open air museums in northern Germany.. #18th_century #accessible #accommodation #crop #farm #Germany #Heuerhaus #hire #Museum #walkthrough #worker
