Traffic control bunker Valkenburg airport, the Netherlands

utb1942
This is the improved version of the military traffic control bunker (Gefechtsstand during WO2) on the navy airport Valkenburg in its basic form originates from 1940, that is without the steel tower. In 1946 the steel tower was added to improve the airfield oversight and the two antenna masts were removed. So if you remove the steel tower you get the WW2 situation. The whole building was demolished in the 90's and replaced by a new tower at a different location. The entire airport was closed in 2011 and will be used for urban housing, industry and hopefully a glider airfield. This model was made with drawings of the dutch national archive and the 434p01-02 Eingangstuer. #1940 #1945 #airfield #bunker #control #dutch #gefechtsstand #german #navy #traffic #utb #valkenburg #WO2 #WW2
