School of Physics

School of Physics

TYW
School of Physics •This modern utilitarian building was a radical departure from the Mediterranean theme of the older buildings on campus. •Completed in 1962, it was the first of the new buildings which saw the centre of the campus move from Whitfield Court to the Reid Library, south of the Great Court. •This building houses a bronze replica of the Vatican museum's marble statue of Apoxyomenos - a gift from the University of Rome. •The School of Physics is a research-focused School, but with a strong commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, promoting new technologies for the benefit of humankind. •This building also houses the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis, and the Western Australian Supercomputer Program (with a Cray XT3 Supercomputer). #Astronomy #Computer #Electricity #Electromagnetism #Frequency #Magnetism #Magnets #Metrology #Outreach #Physics #Radio #SKA #SPICE #Supercomputer #Telescope #UWA #WASP
