The premise of this competition is to design a small 100s.f. shelter that protects from the environment and provides a place to study and a place to sleep.
Throughout my 3 years as an architecture student, I have found that time can fly by like it was nothing, but at the same time it can feel like forever. I wanted to explore architecture and it's relationship to time through additive structures.
My shelter is a simple box like structure that connects with the frame of the New York Times Tower. As time passes and more and more of these spaces are placed on the Tower, the facade develops as a new dynamic piece of architecture in its own.
Although time is an uncontrollable idea, I think it is necessary to try and use it to the best of our ability.
I could not upload the actual file that shows the full facade covered with these new structures, but if you follow this youtube link, you can watch a video displaying it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5e56_-h6478
