The old grey brick GameBoy was my first ever system and its dust-prone, monochrome, 250kb caveman charms blew my little mind. You couldnt save on Mario Land and even the good games looked primitive. Gameboy Zelda, however, was a triumph; it had atmosphere, it had a love scene, it had a 500+ screen world map, you collected layers of the themetune, the dungeon maps even made little pixel icons of the bosses. It was ages till I realised it was meant to be a crammed-down fanservice imitation of Link To The Past.
So the 7th dungeon wasnt just a maze, it was a three tiered maze and you supposedly collapsed the tower into the floor below by knocking down the pillars. This was hard to represent on a matchbox sized screen so I thought it'd look cool to see what the designers were thinking.
I have since discovered there already was a 3D Links Awakening project on the go by the time I started this and it scaled up the whole game, world map included! Lesson: Google your ideas for originality #dungeon #Eagles_Tower #Gameboy #Links_Awakening #Zelda
