The DC-8-63 was the last model of the Douglas DC-8 to be produced. The Series 63 incorporated the very long fuselage of the Series 61 and the wings of the Series 62. It was produced in four variants: the DC-8-63 (passenger), the DC-8-63CF (convertable passenger/freighter), the DC-8-63AF (all freighter) and the DC-8-63PF (passenger version built to the strength and specifications of the -63AF). Production ended around 1972. In the mid to late 1980s, Cammacorp and McDonnell Douglas offered a modernization of the Series 60 aircraft, to be fitted with CFM56-2 turbofans and other more up to date systems. The result was the DC-8 Series 70. With this, the DC-8-63 and its variants became the DC-8-73, DC-8-73CF and the DC-8-73AF. During different time periods, some DC-8-63 and DC-8-73 passenger aircraft were converted in to dedicated freighters (which is listed ad DC-8-63(F) and DC-8-73(F) by Arliners.net). This template represents the passenger/freighter convertible version of the Series 73. #Blank #DC8 #DC870 #DC873 #Douglas #McDonnell #Template
