BojiTower stands at124AlleganStreet,inLansing,Michigan.It has been the tallest building inLansing,since its completion in1931.The tower was originally constructed as the OldsTower,named after the automotive industrialist,RansomEliOlds,who was the main financier of the tower project.Shortly thereafter it was renamedCapitalNationalBankTower,after the bank thatRansomEliOlds helped form.It became theMichiganNationalBankTower in1954,and held that name until2001whenMichiganNationalBank was bought out byStandardFederalBank.At the request ofStandardFederalBank,the owners of the tower removed the historic neon'MichiganNational'sign.After4.5years without a name,it was renamedBojiTower after theBoji family,afather and son development team ofIraqi descent,who had owned the tower since1998.The tower has been through1major expansion which occurred between1965and1967,which include the addition of an11story annex built directly adjacent to the front of the tower.The tower has undergone multiple minor renovations since1998under theBojiGroup's ownership.BojiTower,located downtown at23stories,and297feet(91m),the brick and limestonefaced tower,with its tall,narrow profile topped with a spire and beacon,isatypicalAmericanskyscraperdesignoftheArtDecoeraofhighrisearchitecture.Itincludesfourengravedpanelsintheportalsofthemainpassengerelevatorsthatreflectthemesoflaborandindustry.Thetowersfacadeconsistsof654,000bricksof17differentcolors.Thebuildingis occupiedbyamixofoffice,retail,andgovernmenttenants. #1931 #art #bank #boji #capital #capitol #deco #downtown #Eli #federal #fedral #lansing #michigan #national #Olds #oldsmobile #Ransom #standard #tower
