The all new MSX S1 series replaced the R95 in 1967 was represented a major leap forward in styling and performance. There were 3 model choices: basic/sporty Taipan muscle car and luxury Tanunda. There was a choice of 3.0 or 4.1 litre inline 6s and V8 engine was offered for the first time on any MSX, it was a 302cui (It was refered to as a 5.0 litre) with 207hp. All engines were availiable with a 3 speed manual or auto and the V8 had a 4 speed manual option. But in 1967 the fastest, most exciting model was the Taipan GT6. It had a 250cui (4.1L) inline 6 with a Weber 4 barrell carburetor that produced 215hp. The only transmission option was a 4 speed manual. It had lowered suspension, a panhard bar, front disc brakes, front bucket seats, 8 track cartridge player, leather seats, 4 seatbelts, wood rimmed wheel, lightweight bumpers and stripes.
