Gasworks Laboratory, Launceston

Gasworks Laboratory, Launceston

Robin V.
Part of the Launceston Gasworks site, this small cottage was used as the laboratory and gas testing facility for the gasworks. During restoration around 2007, this building was relocated from its previous location, just to the south, and an extention was added to its north face. This building is now part of the new gasworks centerlink and retail complex and displays a selection of historic artefacts found on site in one of its windows. The gray building [gray buildings layer] immediately south, was this building prior to relocation. A total of 9 "grey buildings" on the gasworks city block either do not exist or have been relocated or demolished over 5 years before present and the current google representation is now out-of-date and displaying inaccurate data based on old council maps. Bitmaps replaced with JPEG textures for faster loading.
