Hilliard Hotel (Built: 1928)
Hotels in east central Alberta were almost always located in the railway townsites. In accordance with Alberta Liquor Control Board regulations, the hotel at Hilliard, Alberta, featured guest rooms, a beverage room and a dining room, a kitchen, pantry, and living quarters for the owner and his family. As was the case in most small towns in the 1920s, however, the hotel rarely served meals or rented its guestrooms to travellers. Instead, people from the local neighbourhood and farmers from beyond the town would gather and socialize in the beverage room throughout the year.
