Frying Pan Light Tower

Frying Pan Light Tower

Description
This is a model of the Fryin Pan Shoals Light Tower, a decommissioned light tower about 34 miles southwest of Southport NC. The model's floor plan and structure is based on floor plans and photographs found online. Note that the upper helipad deck was left transparent to allow the ability to see the floor plan. Some of the artwork in the main gathering room, is similar to the actual tower's decor, including the wind-torn US flags that have been damaged. Frying Pan Tower was built in 1966 by the U.S. Coast Guard, and assisted navigation along the North Carolina coast for many years, and has been rescued by Richard Neal and his family, who purchased the light tower and now operate it as a very unique bed and breakfast. (fptower.com). We are all quite fortunate that such an important bit of nautical history is being preserved by Mr. Neal and his family, and this model hopefully can help show what a truly fascinating structure the Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower is. #Frying_Pan_Shoals #Frying_Pan_Tower #light_tower #lighthouse #north_carolina_light_tower #Richard_Neal #Southport_NC_light_tower
