Sunshine Skyway Bridge

ilesoft82 ..
Built between 1982 and 1987, and officially named the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the world's longest Cable Stayed bridge crosses the Tampa Bay. The bridge's main span is 366 meters and has a vertical clearance of 60 meters. Pylons and deck are constructed from reinforced concrete. The 84 cables, 23 cm in diameter, that hold the deck up are made of steel. The deck carries two road lanes of I-275 and US 19 in each direction. The original two-span Skyway bridge was built in 1954 and 1969. It had cantilevered main spans, of which the southbound span was destroyed in 1980 when a cargo vessel collided with one of the main piers. The northbound bridge was demolished in 1991. #American_Bridge_Company #cablestayed #Figg__Muller_Engineering_Group #Florida #Tampa_Bay
